The Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorneys Association strives to serve the needs of criminal defense attorneys throughout Nebraska by conducting numerous seminars, publishing a newsletter and maintaining a brief bank.

Criminal defense attorneys often find themselves beleaguered from all sides. It is important that they maintain mutual support and that they be as knowledgeable as possible about the issues they confront.

Today’s NE Supreme Court Opinions

August 29, 2014

Be sure to check out the opinions released today by the Nebraska Supreme Court. Today’s criminal case opinion is State v. Rodriguez, 288 Neb. 878 (2014).

JUDICIAL REINVESTMENT WORKING GROUP

Did you know?

  •  Between 2002 and 2012, Nebraska’s resident population increased 7.5 percent.
  • During the same time period, the number of reported index crimes fell 24 percent.
  •  Between FY 2003 and FY 2013, Nebraska’s prison population increased 20 percent and as of March 2014 Nebraska prisons are operating at 155 percent of capacity.

These are just some of the many facts gathered by the staff of the CSG Justice Center under the direction of the Justice Reinvestment Working Group. The Working Group was formed by the passage of LB 907 in April of 2014. It is made up of representatives from all three branches of government and from state and local criminal justice system stakeholders.
